Agnes Jamieson Gallery gets new status from Ontario Arts Council
The Agnes Jamieson Gallery is pleased to announce its newly awarded status as a Recommender Gallery from the Ontario Arts Council. This means that local and regional artists can apply to the AJG for exhibition assistance grants.
What’s a Recommender Gallery?
A recommender gallery acts as a third party disburser of Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance grants. We accept exhibition assistance applications from local and regional artists who have confirmed shows and make recommendations for funding amount to the OAC. The third-party recommenders include public art galleries, artist-run centers, and other community or cultural organizations.
What is an Exhibition Assistance Grant?
The Ontario Arts Council’s Exhibition Assistance Program assists visual artists, craft artists and media artists with costs directly related to presenting their work in a confirmed, upcoming, public exhibition. Applications are received and assessed by recommender organizations. Approved applications, or recommendations, are forwarded to the Ontario arts Council (OAC) for payment directly to the artists.
How Much Can an Artist Apply For?
The minimum grant awarded is $500 and the maximum is $1,500 per year.
Eligibility:
This program is open to Ontario-based professional visual artists, craft artists and media artists who have a confirmed, upcoming public exhibition.
Deadlines:
The program is open from July 1, 2009 to February 12, 2010. Recommender galleries establish their own application deadlines for Exhibition Assistance, or may decide to accept applications on an ongoing basis. We are currently developing our procedures around this. Please contact the Agnes Jamieson Gallery at 286-3763 gallery@mindenhills.ca for more information on this.
