Minden Hills Museum

Minden Museum
Minden Hills Museum has been preserving our local heritage and bringing history to life for all ages since 1984.

Stroll through the museum's seven heritage buildings set on the grounds of the Cultural Centre. Explore a one-room school house, take a moment in the Wee Kirk, peek into pioneer life in the Bowron log home,  the blacksmith shop, the logging camp or one of the others we have to offer.  If one of your party 'gets out of line' then put them in the stocks and pillories, and save the moment with a picture.

Founded in 1859, Minden's heritage derives from logging, mining and some agriculture. A rugged pioneer past is captured in the many artifacts and videos held at the museum.

Experience programming and events that  depict a pioneer’s Highlands lifestyle. For details see the links to the right.

Genealogy
Are your ancestors from Minden or Haliburton? We may be able to help you.The Sterling Bank building at the Minden Hills Museum houses the library of the Haliburton Highlands Genealogy Group. The group has spent countless volunteer hours assembling resources geared to help those tracing their family trees anywhere in Ontario. These materials, combined with museum records, make this an ideal place for genealogical research.

Peace Garden Labyrinth
Relax as you let your feet circle your way into the Peace Garden Labyrinth, dedicated in 2008 during the unveiling of a peace pole that says, "may peace prevail on earth" in five different languages. Labyrinths are found around the globe and designs vary by culture. What they all have, including the centre's seven-circuit labyrinth, is one way in and one way out. How many ways you can find to enjoy this tranquil setting is limited only by your imagination.
